Activities are subject to change without notice.
What should my child(ren) bring to camp?
Your child(ren) should bring a water bottle, sunscreen, and comfortable clothing/shoes suitable for indoor and outdoor activities. Please pack a healthy breakfast, lunch, and snacks for your child(ren). Be mindful of any food allergies, and ensure your child has everything they need for the day. Additionally, please pack an extra pair of clothes in case of emergencies.
What should my child(ren) wear to camp?
Your child(ren) should wear comfortable, weather-appropriate clothing and closed-toe shoes for active play. Child(ren) should bring water shoes and/or flip flops on water days, along with sunscreen, and suitable water-play attire.
Will lunch be provided?
No, lunch is not included. Please pack a healthy breakfast, lunch, and snacks for your child(ren), as refrigeration and microwaves are not available on site. Be mindful of any food allergies and ensure your child(ren) has everything they need for the day. If your child(ren) has an allergy, please make sure to include that information in the emergency contact form.
Will sunscreen be provided?
Sunscreen is not provided by the camp. Please apply sunscreen to your child(ren) before camp and consider sending a bottle with them so they can reapply throughout the day. For safety reasons, staff are not permitted to apply sunscreen to child(ren).
What is required at sign-in /sign-out?
Authorized individuals to pick up your child(ren) must be listed on the emergency form. A valid ID is required at sign-out. For sign-in, we require a strict hand-to-hand drop-off, meaning you must come into Central Park to sign-in your child(ren). Drop-off at the center is not allowed, as your child(ren) would be considered an unattended minor, and we would need to contact the authorities if we are unable to reach you.
How will I receive important updates during camp?
Parents will receive updates via email, the camp newsletter, and through direct communication at sign-in / sign-out. In case of emergencies, we will contact the primary guardian listed on the emergency form. Please make sure to update your ActiveNet account and your child's account to ensure the primary email is on file to receive this information.
Can I pick up my child(ren) early?
Yes, you can pick up your child(ren) any time before 5:30 p.m. but please notify staff 15 minutes in advance using the contact number in the parent handbook.
Are there late fees for late pickup?
Yes, any pickups after 5:30 p.m. will result in a late fee: $10 for 1-15 minutes late and $1 for each additional minute. If running late, call the Youth Summer Camp cell phone with your ETA. Please note, the call does not waive the late fee. If no one can be reached by 6:00 p.m., authorities may be contacted.
What if my child(ren) has an allergy?
Please list any allergies on the emergency form. All staff are CPR/AED certified in case an epinephrine injection is needed. However, you must complete the Medication Administration Form for staff to administer any medication. Medication cannot be administered without this completed form.
What is the ratio between staff and campers?
Staff-to-Participant Ratios: 3 staff to 20 campers for ages 6-8, and 2 staff to 20 campers for ages 9-12.
Can my child(ren) have a cell phone or electronic device during camp?
We encourage you not to send your child(ren) to camp with a cell phone or electronic device so they can fully engage in the activities we have planned. If your child(ren) does bring a device, we ask that they keep it in their backpack.
What is the camp's discipline policy?
We follow a positive reinforcement approach, however repeated or severe behavioral issues may result in a Tomorrow's A New Day Report. If a child receives three reports, they will be removed from the program indefinitely. Removal of any participants from the program is at the discretion of Summer Camp staff. The following behaviors are not acceptable and may result in immediate suspension of a child or indefinite removal from the program:
a. Endangering the health and safety of children, staff, and/or volunteers.
b. Stealing or damaging City property and/or personal property.
c. Continuous disruption of the program.
d. Refusing to follow behavior guidelines and/or Summer Camp rules.
e. Using profanity, vulgarity, obscene language, or any offensive language, including slurs and discriminatory remarks.
f. Public indecency (or nudity).
g. Inappropriate or unwelcome physical contact with others.
What is a Tomorrow’s A New Day Report?
a. A Tomorrow’s A New Day Report is a written notification given to a parent or guardian when a child’s behavior does not align with Summer Camp’s behavior guidelines and requires intervention. It provides a summary of the incident and the actions taken by staff to address the behavior. If a child receives three reports over the course of the program, they will be indefinitely removed from camp. This report ensures communication between staff and parents/guardians, reinforcing the camp’s commitment to maintaining a positive and safe environment.
b. Should a participant be withdrawn from camp due to behavioral issues; we are unable to issue a refund for the affected week. However, refunds will be provided for any subsequent weeks of enrollment minus applicable service fees and the non-refundable $50 fee.
Do I need to fill out the Emergency Form every week if my child(ren) is enrolled for multiple weeks?
No, if there are no changes to your forms from the first week your child is enrolled, we will save them and re-use them. Any changes require a new form.
Will siblings be placed together if they are enrolled in the same camp?
You may request that siblings who are very close in age be placed in the same group. Activities and games are tailored to the different age groups at the various stations throughout the day.
Will friends be placed together if we enroll at the same time?
No, registration is organized by grouping children into cohorts of 20, based on age and listed in alphabetical order. While we do our best to accommodate friend requests, we cannot guarantee that they'll be placed together.
What is the policy regarding getting a refund?
a. To receive a refund (minus the non-refundable $50 membership/application fee, non-fundable service fee, $2 equipment fee, and 5% transaction fee) requests must be submitted at least two (2) weeks before the first registered day of camp via email to Youth@CityofRC.us or in person. Will there be water play activities?
Yes, water play activities will be held on designated water days, which are Wednesdays each week of camp. These activities include water games, water balloons, and other fun water-related activities. Children may bring water shoes and/or flip-flops on those days, along with suitable water-play attire.
Can I transfer my child's enrollment to another week?
Yes, if space allows, transfers can be made with a minimum of two (2) weeks' notice before the originally scheduled camp week. Email Youth@CityofRC.us for transfer requests.
