Beginning the morning of October 26, 2020, an extreme windstorm impacted the community of Rancho Cucamonga, the force of which has not been experienced here in over 10 years. With damage resulting from hurricane-force wind gusts of over 65 mph, the City’s workforce has been heavily impacted with over 500 work orders to address fallen trees, debris and broken infrastructure. The City’s Public Works Services team has been working extended 12-hour shifts, with additional contracted support from outside companies. The Rancho Cucamonga Fire District and Police personnel have also been busy responding to traffic collisions and public safety calls caused by the wind event.
The Public Works team and City contractors are addressing each call for service as quickly as possible. From Monday 10/26/2020 through Wednesday 10/28/2020, the Public Works team received well over 1000 phone calls from residents reporting concerns related to the wind event. “The damage we’ve seen from this windstorm will likely take us 6-8 weeks to completely clean-up debris and address the hundreds of work orders,” said Public Works Services Director, Bill Wittkopf. “Our dedicated team of professionals continues to work tirelessly to repair our community and put things back in order.”

- For emergencies, such as downed power lines, call 9-1-1.
- To report downed trees or other large debris in the roadway, please call the Rancho Cucamonga Police Department’s non-emergency line at (909) 941-1488.
- To report non-emergency damage such as downed trees not in the road, damaged or downed Armed Forces banners, or street light outage, please use the City’s RC2GO portal to report HERE.
