Exciting News: Construction Underway on New Library Facility!
We’re excited to share that on Monday, July 14, 2025, construction began on a long-awaited project that will bring modern, expanded library services to the western portion of Rancho Cucamonga!
This project will replace the existing Archibald Library, which has significant infrastructure challenges, with a new and improved library facility at the City-owned Lions East and West buildings. The current Archibald site has been evaluated and found unable to meet our community’s future needs, and continuing to invest in it would not be fiscally responsible.
Why It Matters:
As part of our General Plan update, Plan RC, this investment brings critical services to an area of our City that has not seen a new community facility in over 15 years. The new space will better serve residents with flexible, inclusive, and modern amenities.
What to Expect During Construction:
Nearby residents and businesses may notice construction-related noise and activity during work hours. We appreciate your patience and understanding as we work to enhance library services for our community.
Project Highlights:
- Full interior renovation of Lions East and West buildings
- New accessible, climate-controlled corridor connecting both buildings
- Dedicated spaces for collections, community events, and study rooms
- Modernized customer service counters and staff areas
- Exterior updates: fresh paint, new finishes, signage, windows
- Enhanced site access with new pathways and landscaping
- Upgraded lighting, technology, HVAC, plumbing, and electrical systems
Timeline:
- Construction Began: July 14, 2025
- Estimated Completion: Winter 2027
Thank you for your continued support as we build a better, more inclusive future for Rancho Cucamonga. Stay tuned for updates throughout the construction process!
